ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Moridja Kitenge Banza's approach lies between reality and fiction, which he puzzles in order to disrupt hegemonic stories and create spaces where marginal discussion can exist. His work has been presented at the Musée d'art contemporain and the Phi Foundation (Montreal), the Musée Dauphinois (France), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Denmark) and the National Arts Festival (South Africa), among others. Marion Lessard is a collective of five people embodied in one figure, composed of Jean-Nicolas Léonard, Alice Roussel, Marie Cherbat-Schiller, Claude Romain and Élisabeth M. Larouine. This unusual structure, individual and collective, acts like a cloudy mirror that refers to the philosophical paradoxes of the one and the multiple. Marion Lessard studied philosophy at the Université de Montréal and holds a master's degree in Studio Arts from Concordia University. His work has recently been featured in solo exhibitions at Dazibao, Galerie Leonard & Bina Ellen and Dare-Dare in Montreal as well as Verticale in Laval. The production of artists' books and performances as well as the organization of punctual events are a frequent part of the journey of the collective, which is in residence at the Darling Foundry until 2023.
